How We Work

We work on new building projects or existing structures where we install and replace or renew flooring. This involves a sound understanding of how to prepare surfaces, what products to use and how various floor coverings, such as: carpet, vinyl, resin, synthetic, and timber interact to produce a showroom quality floor.

Preparing The floor

Because the subflooring and the floor system below can affect the final product, a good flooring specialist will check and ensure the structural integrity of the floor. If the subflooring is not adequate, the specialist will either install or repair the subflooring. This may involve removing any existing flooring or removing any layers added over exisiting flooring.

Sanding And Restoring Of Old Boards

While many of our jobs may comprise new installations, there will be a substantial number of repair and refinish flooring projects as well. Part of the attraction of solid wood is the ability to refinish it many times over the years, each time creating a fresh, new-looking floor. As part of refinishing, the floor specialist replaces damaged planks, sands away the old finish and applies new stain and topcoat. We are skilled at matching and blending wood stains, and applying a flawless finish to unfinished flooring.

Laying The New Floor

The main tasks involved in the flooring installation are to install any baseboard or underlay and then lay the flooring. Since some modification and cutting of the materials may be required we have an in-depth understanding, not only of hardwoods and softwoods, but also of the other types of materials used in flooring. We can also install engineered hardwood flooring.
